Celebration of Light

Last summer, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Celebration of Lights in Vancouver with my friend who had recently obtained her permanent residence in Canada. It was an unforgettable experience!

We began the evening by parking in Granville Island. After showing up at Granville Island, we walked toward Burrard Bridge to snatch a spot to watch the fireworks. As we got comfortable, we were treated to a staggering Red Bull Air Show. The pilots put on an amazing showcase of flying tumbling, leaving the group in wonder.

We also saw a gorgeous sunset over the horizon with the clouds bursting into colour. As we watched the sunset, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. It's like the world is putting on a show just for you. The warm light bathes everything in a golden glow and it just makes everything look so picturesque.

As the fireworks began, there was also a "Ferry Ballet" that we were lucky to watch. The ships in the harbour were arranged to move as one, making a hypnotizing dance on the water. It was really an incredible sight!

Finally, it was time for the main event, the Festival of Lights fireworks! The group performing out that evening, fittingly enough, was Team Canada and the fireworks were set to a playlist that they made to go with the display. The sky was illuminated in a stupendous showcase of red and white, joined by the sound of cheering groups. As we watched the firecrackers, my companion and I really wanted to feel a deep satisfaction in our recently embraced country.

Generally, it was a night loaded up with astounding sights and recollections that I will appreciate for eternity. I strongly recommend watching the Festival of Lights if you're in town during the events!
